Chickens and Chocolate

2020 Holidays

Chickens and chocolate and holiday fare

It’s a sign of the times the shelves are all bare.

There won’t be an Easter or sweet holiday

All of the sweet stuff has been taken away.

The chickens will lay only eggs on a farm

We’ll eat them for breakfast, it won’t cause no harm.

We’ll have to eat veggies and buttery toast

While we wait for that chicken to finally roast.

Memories

With each breath I take

I can think of just you

The kind of mistake

Why I hadn’t a clue.

So now here I sit

With my bottle of wine

Remembering the shit

You God-awful swine!

Simpatico: FOWC with Fandango

Written for Fandango’s daily challenge: https://fivedotoh.com/2020/07/29/fowc-with-fandango-simpatico/

adjective

  1. (of a person) likable and easy to get along with.
    • having or characterized by shared attributes or interests; compatible.

My true love

When I met my true love

It was love at first sight

He looked direct at me

On that dark, starry night.

We connected like fire

In a pile full of brush

Him, always so gentle

He never did rush.

I called him “Simpatico”

It was just how he felt

I finally found a card

I was happy was dealt.

Memories

I remember the day as if it was yesterday. The sun was shining, and it was hot! Brad and I had found this area in the park where we could get a little shade. It was the first time he kissed me. The butterflies in my stomach were busier than all the bugs in the forest. He had taken out his pocketknife and started carving something in the trees. I told him to stop, that he would kill the tree. He said the tree would be fine. Now I wish he had written our whole names, Brad and Rochelle forever.
