Perfunctory: FOWC with Fandango

Say Goodbye

It was just as we left and were saying good bye
with a perfunctory wave and a wink of her eye.
We knew right then we would never see her again
and that kind of outlook is the best kind there’s been.
She is snide like a child, rude like some sort of brat
Some call her a thief, what do you think about that?
The things that she does during her days and her nights
you’d be smart just to bid her farewell ‘fore she bites
The time that you spend with her is truly a waste
But it is good thing to learn as you got a small taste.

Mini slippers for the Villa vacationers

I started the villa on Santorini Island.

The directions call for two pairs of slippers…

I did it and I think they came out well.

But they are tiny!

Having fun is all that counts!

FLYING/FLIGHT: dversepoets.com

Written for dversepoets: https://dversepoets.com/2020/07/28/poetics-flights-of-fancy/

  • Pen a poem that is about FLYING/FLIGHT (NOT FLEEING)
  • Take ONE or MORE of our natural winged phenomena – bird, bat, insect, seed, flying fish! (but NOT mythical creature with wings, NOT mechanical objects either)
  • Your poem can be purely literal or mixed with metaphor or even allegory
  • Write as subject or object; 1st or 3rd person
  • Preferably use FREE VERSE (like Sandburg & Lawrence above) as that best suits the subject of flying!
  • If you use any poem as source or inspiration, please cite the original in your post [click links to read above poems in full]

Bats at home

Once
there were seven creatures
black as night
flying in circles
clicking.
Now
there is one creature
black as night
flying in a circle
I cannot hear the clicking.
For bats disease spreads
quickly.
