Well, sort of. It works. They have to contract a company to come and dig a new trench for a brand new cable from the house to the street. It’s only….maybe…300 feet! I might be waiting a while. As long as I can get on WordPress and Goodreads I should be fine!!

sibilant: Ragtag Daily Prompt
For Ragtag Daily Prompt: https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/06/11/rdp-thursday-sibilant/
sibilant:
adjective.making or characterized by a hissing sound.”his sibilant whisper” sounded with a hissing effect, for example s, sh.
noun: a sibilant speech sound.
I really have no idea how to use this word or what to do with it!
I will read through some other contributors and maybe come up with an idea.
I was almost thinking of that character who always had the whistle when he spoke, even though I can’t remember who that was either. I think they had a Bugs Bunny Cartoon character with this problem.
Risk: FOWC with Fandango
Written for Fandango: https://fivedotoh.com/2020/06/11/fowc-with-fandango-risk/
Perfect match
When I saw you across the room,
I knew I was taking a risk
Because of your beautiful smile
Shiny hair
And curvy body.
There was no way
A woman like you
Would ever
Fall for
A man like me.
When we started dating
I knew I was taking a risk
Because of your piercing eyes
Deep intellect
And imagination.
There was no way
A woman like you
Would ever
Fall for
A man like me.
When you said you loved me
I knew I was willing to take a risk
Because of your deep feelings
Passion
And vitality.
A woman like you
Has captured
The heart of
A man like me.

Day 11: 30 Day Book Challenge

After the last “make-up” period I thought I would make a better effort to stay up to date on this challenge. It was challenging though (hehehe, pun) because my internet was out. Apparently, the guy who lived here before us may have broken the original line out to the street because it had been spliced in some weird spots and not very well put together. Anyhow, today the company sent someone to help out and here I am.
This challenge is for SandmanJazz: https://sandmanjazz.wordpress.com/2020/06/06/30-day-book-challenge-day-6/comment-page-1/#comment-8556
Day 1: Favorite book in a series
Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews
Day 2: Favorite book by your favorite writer
Tales of the Unexpected (short story collection) by Roald Dahl
Day 3: book you did not finish
Lamb: The Gospel according to Biff, Christ’s childhood pal by Christopher Moore
Day 4: Book you remember from childhood
Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey
Day 5: favorite classic novel
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Day 6: Book that broke your heart
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
Day 7: Best audiobook to listen to on a road trip
The only one I had that was not some sort of horror/murder story, which was too scary travelling alone, was “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. It was okay.
Day 8: Series everyone should read
39 Clues by Rick Riordan https://rickriordan.com/book/the-39-clues-the-maze-of-bones/ They are for kids but I enjoyed them because of all the information the author provides about various locations around the globe.
Day 9: favorite book to give as a gift
Oh, the places you’ll go! By Dr. Seuss https://www.seussville.com/themes/oh-the-places/
Day 10: A book that makes you cry happy tears
Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/460548.Go_Dog_Go_
I read this to my kids night after night and the three of us all loved when he shouts “To the tree!” Just brings happy memories.
Day 11: Literary character you want to have dinner (or drinks) with
Elie Wiesel “Night” – yes I know he is real but he is still the main character of his book.

Do you know you hold the key to my heart?
When the darkness is overwhelming
and I cannot let you in
you know how to enter
without intrusion
only love
When the sorrow is shattering
and I cannot put the pieces
back together
on my own
you know how to mend me
without aversion
only love
When the angst is disheartening
and I cannot shift my view
to a positive light
you know how to ignite
without antagonism
only love
When secrets darken my vision
and truth cannot emerge
to allow healing
you know how to penetrate
without stipulations
only love
When happiness is amazing
and I need to share
with someone
you know how to be there
to join my exultation
without asperity
only love.

Love, betrayal, and murder. The perfect trifecta for a great thriller!
Between Love and Murder
Publication Date: April 21, 2020
Genre: YA Thriller/ LGBTQ+
Publisher: Willow River Press
September 2018. 17-year-old Chad becomes intrigued by the new kid—Archie—when they flirt during their first interaction. But Chad’s best friend, Mallory, asks Archie out first. Pursuing Archie allows Mallory to get revenge against Chad who recently rejected her. Except Chad refuses to lose Archie to Mallory. Not when he might have a real chance at love—Archie identifies as bisexual like Chad. Although if Chad wants Archie, then he must eliminate Mallory as the competition. Even if doing so means proving she was involved in the disappearance of her ex-boyfriend, Tommy.
Three months later—December 2018. Tommy resurfaces, and Mallory accidently kills him while Archie and Chad are witnesses. Mallory, Archie, and Chad can’t go to the police, though. Mallory blackmailed Tommy to leave town last Fourth of July with a sex-tape after discovering Tommy cheating on her. And Archie, Chad, and Mallory must unite if they don’t wanna go down for murder. Except Chad is even more threatened of Mallory now that he and Archie are dating—Chad remains uncertain if Mallory harbors lingering resentment for rejecting her. If Chad wants Mallory gone, then he must continue making difficult choices. Even if destroying Mallory means Chad pretending to be Mallory’s friend while finding a way to implicate Mallory in Tommy’s death without him and Archie getting in trouble.
If you like the nonlinear storytelling of ABC’s HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER and the toxic love triangle of WINK POPPY MIDNIGHT, then BETWEEN LOVE AND MURDER is the book for you.

BEFORE
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2018
Expecting complete honesty was pointless.
Like with Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, or when a friend got a questionable haircut. Both the kid and friend could discover the truth without anyone playing the villain. Or like right now while I stood next to my locker in the school hallway. My best friend, Mallory, couldn’t have said what she had. Yet I didn’t have an ear wax problem, so the chances of her comment being misheard were slimmer than time travel happening.
I blinked. “Come again?”
She tugged at her backpack strap. “I’m sorry, Chad; I’m not trying to be awkward. I just couldn’t lie anymore.”
“Don’t apologize for your feelings.”
Telling her not to feel bad shouldn’t have been the best response I came up with. Doing so only prolonged the inevitable: deciding about whether honesty or a fib was best. However, there was no right reaction to finding out Mallory had a crush on me. Some events—such as her revelation—couldn’t be anticipated no matter how many A’s I earned in school.
Mallory bit her lip. “We’ve been spending a lot of time together since July.”
I chuckled. “We’ve always been close.”
“Not since I started dating Tommy.”
I scratched the side of my head. “What’d you expect to happen?”
