The Weekly Hilarity Contest

  • Write a short story, poem, song, or really long sentence about Birds.
  • Don’t make it too long. We’ve got real life to get back to.
  • The goal is to make me, the judge LAUGH ALOUD. Whoever tickles my funny bone the best will be crowned champion.
  • As a tip, I generally think and live in a G-rated world. I don’t find crude or profane things very humorous.

Bird poem

Birds are wild
birds can sing
Male birds have
no ding-a-ling!

the worst opening line contest

Think of a horrible opening line to a novel, short story or essay. It can be redundant, riddled with childish rhymes, vague or flat-out boring. Feel free to use the comments section or your blog

here is my attempt: (which shouldn’t really be hard!)

This story is about how Jimmy was shot and killed by Chester because they had a fight over drug money.

wit: word of the day challenge

What about her?

He is always the life of the party and never misses a gathering. He is fun, talkative, and on top of all the world happenings, so he always has something to talk about. He remembers all the jokes and all the punchlines, never missing a beat.
But what about her? She had wit. She had charisma. And above all else, she was the one who fed him all of the news, the up-to-date drama of people around them. No one saw her.
The next time she got assigned to manifest her presence in a human being she was definitely going to pick a woman next time.

frazzled: Ragtag daily Prompt

When I’m feeling jumpy
When I don’t know who
I should be out looking for
Or knowing what to do.

I think that I am nervous
I know that I am right
I’m feeling pretty frazzled
about this here tonight.

I’m looking for some quiet
and for some peace to spread
I hope to cast much happiness
and stop this in my head.

I know that it can happen
just like I have it planned
Spreading peace and joy around
all across this land.

Fortitude: FOWC with fandango

doing what is right

Doing what is right
Facing danger
Facing alarm
Defending yourself
Defending your loved ones
Fighting for what is right
Fighting for truth
Battling for justice
Battling for the sake of others
Matching bravery
Matching fortitude
Doing what is right

Identical – #YDWordPrompt May 3, 2020

We are identical

The color of our skin
The sound of our voice
The things we learn
The things we believe
The places we go
The world that we live in
All cultures, worlds, lives
yet different.
