Depression and Addiction

No one will ever know
the pain that lies
within your heart,
your mind,
your soul.

No one will ever see
the poison that flows
through your veins,
in your blood,
in your mind.

No one will ever hear
you cry out in fear
that tomorrow
is a day
that may never come.

No one will ever understand
that this is not made up
nor is it wanted
but cannot
be dispelled.

Safety: Your Daily Word Prompt

Written for YDWP: https://onedailyprompt.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/your-daily-word-prompt-safety-ydwordprompt-april-8-2020/

When I was in college, the group of us that hung around together was a fun bunch. When anybody farted they had to yell “Safety”. Not sure where it came from or what, but if I remember correctly it was always the same few people.

Safety

How do I always know
I am safe
in your arms
with the warmth
of your body
warming mine
hands intertwined
heads down
eyes closed
knowing that safety
is closer than
we ever knew.

“She was murdered,” Rabbit says. – Kate Racculia’s Bellweather Rhapsody

Rabbit Cracks the case

Skunk jumped down from the tree trunk. He didn’t like the tail he saw, sticking out from under the fallen tree trunk. He couldn’t be sure but it looked like Squirrel’s tail.

“Hey, Rabbit, you gotta come here!” Skunk yelled.

Skunk pointed at Squirrel’s tail.

“She was murdered,” Rabbit says

Surprise: Word of the Day Challenge

Written for Word of the Day: https://wordofthedaychallenge.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/surprise-2/

My Friend

Don’t be surprised if I show up today
there are some things that I really must say.

I want to be honest and firm about this
I want to say everything, nothing to miss.

Are you worried this is really the end
Have no fear, my sweet dear, you’re always my friend.

Plague, Pestilence, and Pandemic

Today I would like you to take inspiration from the words like plague, pestilence, and pandemic, and write a poem to console us in this time of the Corona. https://dversepoets.com/2020/04/07/poetics-in-the-time-of-the-plague/

Sickness

Sometimes it’s rats and sometimes it’s fleas
no matter the type, it’s an awful disease.

No thought to the place of where it came from
No idea if your actions were careless or dumb.

So now here we sit with a virus to spread
so many people, some who are dead.

Keep your hands washed as told by the doc
Soon this will end, and the sickness we’ll mock.

Riding on the Carousel

Like a child upon a steed
having not a care or need
Sitting high up in the seat
stirrups hold your tiny feet.

Ride along my mighty friend
before the ride comes to an end.
Find your treasure or your gold
Find it soon, before you’re old.

Laughter brings a happy sound
as you ride around, around.
Hold on tight so you don’t miss
the views along this ride of bliss.

Curve: Discover Prompts Day 8

Written for: https://wordpress.com/discover-wordpress/category/discover-prompts/

That girl

By the curve of her body I knew that I was done

no matter what she did she’d know that she had won.

I didn’t think I was so damn weak before we met

now that I am with her the weaker each day I get.

she could do most anything without me getting mad

it’s just that fair persona and swagger that she had.

Perspicacity: Ragtag Daily Prompt

https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/rdp-wednesday-perspicacity/

Megan knew by the look on the students face that there was something wrong. It was due to her perspicacity that she was able to figure out then the student was upset because he hadn’t studied for his test. She had always had this keen sense knowing because she was once one of those students who walked into an exam forgetting to study not remembering if she had read or not. Luckily Megan had made it through high school not having to worry about it because she was so bright. Megan hoped that by the end of this semester all her students would feel comfortable knowing that they learned what they needed to learn in class and that she would offer them as much help as they needed.
