A Name A Day: Ryan

Please participate in A Name A Day. Write a story, poem, or something about a real individual you know with the name of the day. If you have a name that you would like for the blog please send me a message. Please keep it all positive.

This is part of my positivity plan. Allowing others to see their names in print and then stories or poems that are positive about them is reinforcing to adults and children. This is my first time hosting a “challenge” so if you have pointers or need to tell me how to do something differently, please do, I don’t take offense to creative feedback.

Enjoy this! I will post a few random names until people choose to participate and give some names. I will continue as long as people would like to participate. I believe it will be nice for any blogger to share with a friend or family member poems “about them” from so many talented writers. Enjoy!

Hope

As she opened the door the smell of dust and sheetrock spread over her and in her. She knew it was not going to be done, the job was never done, was it? She just hoped that there would be enough completed to move back in. It wasn’t. She stood, open mouthed, taking in the mess, the broken walls, the debris, all there to make something more beautiful? Disgusted, she backed out into the hallway and shut the door. She would pretend none of this had happened. She would come back in one week and hope to see improvements. Hope.

Tale Weaver #253: Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there was a land of castles. For as far as you could see, nothing but gigantic castles! In this land there were only two types of people, the owners and the patrons. The owners were able to own the castles because they were handed down generation after generation to family members. Sometimes it would happen that there was no one to hand their castle to, so the owners would pick one of their favorite patrons to become the future owner.

Each of these castles was unique. They all had rooms and hallways, courtyards and gardens, attics and creepy basements, but each was different because each castle was decorated to symbolize the family’s attitude.

Well, there was one castle that was always dark and spooky. All the patrons stayed in their rooms because they were too afraid to walk around the castle. Except when they came out for meals, no one talked to anyone else, so this castle was also eerily quiet. You may be wondering what family attitude is always so dark and gloomy and what did patrons do all day? That was the thing, no one knew why and no one was brave enough to ask. The patrons didn’t even know who owned their castle, all they knew was that there was always food to eat and a warm place to sleep at night.

It wasn’t until one of the male patrons decided to start looking around…

OpenLinkNight #256

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

I thought of what I wanted and then I changed my mind.

There are so many options toys of every kind.

I thought I wanted play-doh or maybe a sweet doll.

Then I thought I wanted gum but mom would take it all.

I think that I’ve been good this year behaving to my best

Even though my brother is an endless, awful pest.

I think I’d like some books to read or instruments to play.

How about some brand new clothes or shoes to do ballet.

I promise I’ll be good for mom and help my dad a lot

Would you bring a puppy, tell mom his name is Spot?

I don’t know if you’ll get this in time to make my stuff

But elfs are always busy I’m sure they’ll have enough.

I don’t think that I’m picky or spoiled like my friend.

I only want a few new things, what do you recommend?

Thank you Mr. Santa, you really are the best.

I don’t care what my friends tell me you are a welcome guest.

Love,

Christine
